One of the first and as it turned out most impressive stands we saw at 100% Design, was Form Room. It is a multi-award winning company that specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke furniture, interiors, pop-up shops and lighting, as well as a range of beautiful non-bespoke pieces. Their extensive client list includes Harrods, Selfridges, Mulberry and Paul Smith, as well as leading architectural practices and design consultants. Not only that but the lady fronting the stand was warm, friendly and really personable. I could’ve stood chatting to her for hours!

Another equally impressive company we came across was the inspirational Mette Creates – they are a multidisciplinary design studio, founded by Nelson and Caroline Santos, two designers with diverse backgrounds in interiors and furniture, graphics, fashion, illustration and textiles. They joined creative forces in 2010 to develop new brands, products, furniture and interior concepts, ranging from eclectic kitchens to quirky cafés, cookery schools, concept kitchens, pop-up restaurants and independent food stores. Clients and customers include 100% Design, The Merchant Hotel, Jamie’s Ministry of Food, Linkedin, Tesco.

In every design, they aim to evoke creativity and imagination through exciting combinations of colour, texture and pattern. Together they illustrate an exciting unpredictability between sleek fabrication and designer-maker experimentation, which brings originality and spontaneity to their projects.
They created a vertical garden that would work as well in a home kitchen, as in an eclectic restaurant or canteen. With rows of individual hydroponics giving life force to individual herb & salad plants and strips of blackboarding underneath, labelling the plants, it was so visually eye catching, I tried every which way to realise them for my own kitchen. Unfortunately I don’t have the space!

The lighting company that really caught our eye was Mullen Lighting. Based in Ireland, they specialise in Church Lighting, Pub and Restaurant Lighting and Public Building Lighting, also creating Bespoke lighting to meet their clients’ exact requirements. Their design team are really innovative and create new contemporary lighting that can be a central feature to any room whether traditional or modern. Whether it’s a completely new design or the renovation of existing fixtures, one piece or a whole scheme, by working directly with a genuine manufacturer they ensure that the end product will be exactly as their clients want it.
Our personal favourites were their vintage style stripped back industrial style light fittings. We’ve got our eye on some of them for a restaurant project that we are specifying for just now.
