Lapalma brought to Salone del Mobile 2015 the results of research of materials and concept which give to the contract and residential market new interpretations for projects and original scenarios. The company is working not only in the contract market – office, waiting rooms, airports – but also in those new territories where globalized behavior and shared working places are becoming more and more common, introducing “crossover” products suitable for various situations and spaces.
For Example the modular seating system ADD designed by Francesco Rota and already exhibited in the previous edition of Salone. A highly flexible project made of an aluminium base where small tables, cushions, backrest and more accessories can be added; with ADD you can have compact 2 seater sofa or complex configurations including magazine rack, side tables and sockets to charge smartphones or tablets.
This year ADD explores different heights, showing its suitability for eating areas together with BRIO table (design Romano Marcato) and for lounge areas in hospitality and health-care environments thanks to the comfortable seat and backrest with an elegant shape. Innovative configurations accessorized with side-tables and tablet-cases, makes ADD an ideal solution for waiting areas.
Together with ADD, one more “crossover” proposal: KIPU ottomans designed by Anderssen & Voll. The visible stitches highlight the informal essence of this product, which is suitable for the contract market but ideal also for residential settings, thanks to the possibility of combining islands of comfortable seating.
Another new product enhancing the lounge area is AUKI, design Hee Welling. Lifting up the corners of a flat surface like origami the result was a cocooning bowl, and by defining then a central line shaped to welcome the human body, the Danish designer came up with a lounge chair with a very simple aesthetic and high level of comfort.
From the lounge area to the light office with LAB stool designed by Kari Monni. The manufacturer’s evolution in the research of high seating, has created a new technical multifunctional stool, a natural alternative to the traditional working stools. LAB is available in two heights, with adjustable back-rest or lower without back-rest on a die-cast aluminium base, mat chromed or powder coated. Being height adjustable, with swivel seat and self-breaking castors, LAB is perfect for laboratories, offices, libraries and home as well.
CUT, design Francesco Rota is displayed this year with new bases: five-star in die-cast aluminium on castors, with or without gas-spring, suitable for the office, four-star die-cast aluminium base for the lounge area and an elegant base with four wooden-legs in ash. A perfect chair for contemporary living and working spaces.
