Ceramiche Refin took a pro-active role in the creation of Oakley’s flagship showroom in Milan: the famous Californian brand, has opened its flagship showroom for the EMEA area at the group headquarters.
The location was designed not only to accommodate the usual commercial needs that a showroom should meet, but also to specifically interpret everything that the brand has represented since the beginning: a mix of Design and Technology targeted at a discerning customer-base, interested in quality and efficiency and desiring a partner on their side to overcome their limits.
As the showroom is located in a space where a bank previously stood, the project also envisaged an important re-planning of the venue, all spaces were cleaned up to reveal the pre-existing load-bearing structure of the building.
With the specific intent of creating a harmonious merger between different cultures, habits and life styles, the planning of the spaces saw the use of various, extremely different materials. The prominent note is the Design Industry porcelain tiles collection on the floor, series evoking the patinated look of oxidized metals and enhancing the pink granite columns in all their majesty. The use of the big size (75x150cm) exalts the texture and graphic effects of the materials and reduces the number of joints in order to create a continuous effect on the surface.
Design Industry is Ceramiche Refin’s multi-material collection that takes inspiration from urban contexts and contemporary trends. It includes two different types of surface, a wide range of sizes and colours to favour the utmost planning freedom. The Oxyde finishing used in Oakley’s flagship showroom in Milan recall the patinated effect of oxidized materials alternating bright and dark hues.
The same parameters were also used for the choice of material for armchairs, chairs and desks, all different from each other but all inspired by urban design. The project comes complete with an industrial lighting systems reclaimed and salvaged from factories in Eastern Europe.
